Let's Paint the Trees
Landscapes in Oil with Mary Zirkel

February 24—26, 2010

HCAF Members $150
Non-members $165

This three day class will be for all levels, and will be in oil or acrylic. The special emphasis of the class will be to study the structure, color, and texture of various trees. Choosing the right brush and learning the techniques needed to get the design on the canvas will be a part of the learning process in this class. The class will also look at the placement of trees within a landscape to achieve the most pleasing composition. Demonstrations will be a part of each day's agenda.

Although the class is designed to study and paint trees, students are invited to bring whatever they are working on if they prefer. The class is not a "paint-a-long" and each person will be encouraged to select a photograph or other resource to use during the class. Each student is worked with individually on his or her choice of resource material.

Mary Zirkel has been painting for over 35 years, and teaching classes for over 25 years. She studied art at San Antonio Art Institute under Carl Embery, and also has done numerous workshops with many well known artists, including William Henry Erle of Connecticut, Lee Parkinson of Utah, Bob Wygant, Dick Turner, and Dalhart Windberg, as well as many other Texas artists.
