Impressionistic Landscapes
Steven Napper

May 24—26, 2010

HCAF Members $275; Non-members $300

An all-level workshop in oils with the emphasis on working to create a more impressionistic landscape! The use of fewer but larger brushes and palette knives plus working with a more limited palette will keep the painting looser and colors more unified. The goal will be to loosen up your painting style and have more FUN with your paintings! Emphasis will be on studio work but if time and weather allow we will give students the opportunity to plein air paint in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. (See bio with pastel workshop)

Pastel Workshop
Steven Napper

September 27—October 1, 2010

HCAF Members $425
Non-members $450
Plus Modeling Fee

An all-level workshop in Pastels with the first half of the week devoted to the landscape and the last few days working on portraiture with a live model. Steven brings the experience of 40 plus years as a pastelist and instructor into the classroom, an easy going and sharing teaching style that has brought him recognition as an outstanding teacher! The goal will be to introduce a variety of working techniques with pastels plus having some FUN!

Napper attended West Texas State University as an art major, receiving both a Bachelor and Masters degree. After working as a commercial artist in Los Angeles, California and as an art educator and administrator in Texas, he has turned his full attention to fine art and developing workshops to share his skills. Dedication, love and talent have led Napper to be recognized over the past 35 years with both awards and membership in many of the most prestigious art organizations in America. Most recently, he has been spending time painting in the field (Plein Air). He was one 50 artists invited to paint in Rocky Mountain National Park for a week and then have a showing of the created work. From the 50 artists, he was one of 10 artists who received an invitation to become the first signature members of the Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters. www.NapperFineArt.com
