Ken
Malson is known for his unique
perspective on how to use an array
of interesting materials to
formulate ideas and meaning into the
art of assemblage. He has many years
of experience in what he calls
“cutting and putting” the equivalent
of attaching foreign objects to each
other in a cohesive and esthetic
reality.
Assemblage Art and the Pursuit of
Mischief
The emphasis of this workshop will
be to acquire a high level of
craftsmanship and develop
compositional integrity. We will
have three assigned projects using
my materials or yours or a
combination of each. I will set out
some simple guidelines and supply
three different substrates to
enhance our creative adventure. I
will supply tools and plenty of
fasteners and adhesives. We will
also be looking at some creative
ways of using some alternative
materials such as polyester resin
and tile mastic.
Workshop Particulars:
Location: Hill Country Arts
Foundation, Ingram, TX.
When: September 15th thru September
18th, 2010 from 10:00 am until 4:00
pm.

Project 1: We will be using
sheet metal as the primary material
on a wood substrate. Imagination
required!
Project 2: We will be using a
game board as the substrate and
attaching found objects and other
useful items to build our
composition.
Project 3: Is a surprise.
Last time we used a wood crutch as
one of the substrates, this time I
will bring something equally as
interesting as a starting point for
your creativity.
A wide range of artist tools and
materials will be explored!
