Serendipity on Cloth
Lisa Kerpoe
March 2—4, 2010
HCAF Members $175;
Non-members $195
Supply Fee $15
This class provides a thorough
exploration of the many ways to use
monoprinting as a surface design
technique. Monoprinting is a technique
in which paints or dyes are applied to a
printing surface. A pattern is created
using a variety of tools. The fabric is
then placed on the printing surface to
create a unique design. Techniques
covered include: single plate
monoprinting, double plate monoprinting,
discharge monoprinting, wholecloth
monoprinting and gelatin monoprinting.
Participants will add stitching,
beading, fibers and trinkets to the
monoprinted fabric to create a framed or
quilted wall hanging. |

Creating Texture on Fabric
Lisa Kerpoe
September 22—24, 2010
HCAF
Members $175;
Non-members $195
Supply Fee $15
Have you wanted to try screen printing,
but weren’t sure where to start? In this
introduction to screen printing,
participants will learn a variety of
techniques to add rich color and texture
to fabric using fiber reactive dyes.
|
|
Fiber
reactive dyes provide vibrant, permanent
color on natural fibers and are
non-toxic and easy to use. All of the
techniques covered are easy to replicate
at home, without the need for special
equipment. The focus will be on using
techniques that are not permanent, so
the silkscreen can be used over and over
for many different designs. Participants
will experiment with several masking and
resist techniques and will have the
opportunity to layer the techniques for
added texture. |
