Handbuilding with Thrown Forms
Lisa Ehrich
July 23—25, 2010
HCAF Members $225; Non-members $245
In this workshop students will discover, as Ehrich
has, the enjoyment of moving back and forth from
throwing to handbuilding, often in the same piece.
The two techniques inform each other in ways that
allow the artist to stretch in both directions.
During the workshop, a variety of forms, functional
and sculptural, thrown and handbuilt will be
demonstrated. Included during the three days will be
slide shows of Ehrich’s work as well as other
artists. Students will work on related projects that
will include: identifying a vocabulary of forms;
exploring the forms through various techniques; and
combining techniques to create new forms. The
workshop will conclude with a group critique.
