This
three day class will be for all
levels. You may use oil or acrylic,
but the instructor will be working
in and demonstrating with oil. Mary
says, “ I grew up with chickens and
since we retired we have had
chickens (and at one time, guineas,
ducks, and turkeys as well) for the
past 20 years. I like observing
chickens and birds and have painted
both. Primarily, I paint on canvas,
but also have experimented with
painting on glass, doing built-up
textured paintings, and painting on
metal.” In this class we will paint
on canvas and students can paint the
hen, rooster, turkey, or bird of
their choice. The instructor will
provide many photos, and invites
students to bring their own.
Mary Zirkel has been painting for
about 35 years, but has always used
her artistic talents in various
ways. She studied at the San Antonio
Art Institute under Carl Embery, and
also with many well known artists,
including Dalhart Windberg of
Austin, William Henry Earle of
Connecticut, Lee Parkinson of Utah,
and Dick Turner of Houston.
