Basic Fused Glass and
Bronze Metal Clay

October 20—22, 2009

Tuition: HCAF Members $250
Non-members $275

Glass fusing is one of the most versatile ways of working with glass today. Join in this fun filled, hands-on, information packed, exciting class. No experience is necessary and you don’t have to be an artist to learn this technique. Beginners will make six pieces of jewelry. Learn the basics of glass cutting, placement and firing while receiving extensive information on the technical aspects of kiln-work, safety, and studio set up. Tools, glass and firing are provided. The class will then explore bronze metal clay. Like its precious-metal counterparts, bronze clay can be pinched, rolled, sculpted, cut or manipulated any way you like. When fired the binder burns away leaving a solid, pure bronze object.

Merlene Walker worked in a corporate environment for over 20 years. After years of taking art classes, with the help of “The Artist Way” workshop, she took a leap of faith and left her job to pursue a degree in art. She is a graduate of Southwest Texas Ceramics Program—BFA, a member of the Precious Metal Clay Guild, a member of the Texas Pottery and Sculpture Guild and a member of the Dallas Craft Guild.  www.thealchemygroup.biz
