Green
men and Green Women are symbols of
irrepressible life. They are found
in the architectural details and
sculptures of almost every cathedral
in Europe. They are those pagan
symbols which have assimilated into
Christian art. Therefore, these
symbols convey good energy to a
home. The also make wonderful pieces
for the garden. To make a Green man
or Green woman, students will start
with a half-face or bas relief,
employing the techniques for
sculpting the human face using
sacred geometry. Then with real
leaves, students will mold leafy
hair for the piece. The end result
will be a beautiful wall hanging for
the home or garden.
