HANDBUILDING WITH CLAY

Mondays and Wednesday Evenings:

This workshop is an excellent place to start an adventure into clay. Whether your goal is to continue in handbuilding or develop wheel-throwing skills, this class will provide important groundwork and vital information about the medium. Students will learn pinch, coil and slab methods by making a planter, mug and vase.

 
GLAZE AND FIRING TECHNIQUES

Tuition per workshop:

Monday and Wednesday Evenings:
Feb 2 & 4, 2009; Feb 9 & 11, 2009
Oct 5 & 7, 2009; Oct 12 & 14, 2009
6—9 pm

Students will be given instruction in the skills required for participation in the HCAF Cooperative Ceramic Studio including glazes, firing and studio safety. Ceramic artists interested in the Cooperative Studio program must demonstrate the ability to perform tasks on the ceramic studio checklist before buying studio time. For more information on this program, contact the visual arts office. J’Nil Jackson has an art degree and has extensive teaching experience in the public school system and as HCAF ceramics instructor.
