What’s New in Fluid Acrylics
Barbara Jackson
Saturday, March 7, 2009 10:00 am - 4:30 pm

Tuition: HCAF Members $120; Non-members $125

Fluid acrylics may be used as alternatives to watercolors, but their application possibilities go far beyond traditional watercolor techniques. During the workshop we will learn how Fluid Acrylics can be poured and puddled, dripped and dragged onto paper, canvas, or any other substrate that you can think of, in order to achieve unique effects. Several prepared substrates will be provided for workshop participants. Along with the fluid acrylics we will experiment with the new OPEN Acrylics which remain wet far longer than other acrylics and resist skinning on the palette during long painting sessions. This is a totally new concept in acrylic paints! Bring your sense of adventure for a day filled with the fun of experimentation and the joy of personal expression. Golden Paints will provide a Fluid Acrylics and OPEN sampler kit to each workshop participant.

What’s New in Acrylic Gels
Barbara Jackson
Saturday, April 18, 2009  10:00 am - 4:30 pm

Tuition: HCAF Members $120; Non-members $125

Get ready to have some fun as we explore new techniques and approaches to painting with several of the most recently introduced acrylic gels. You will have the opportunity to create unique surfaces, and textures with Clear Tar Gel, Fiber Paste, Glass Bead Gel and Coarse Molding Paste. Each gel has specific characteristics and qualities; during this workshop, you will learn how to use all of them as we drip, drizzle, stencil and scrafitto to create images. You will gain a whole new outlook on what painting and paint surfaces are all about as you make your own “swatch book” of materials and techniques to take home with you. Golden Paints and Gels will be provided for use during the workshop.
