Printmaking with a Twist

Tuition: HCAF Members $250; Non-members $275; Extended Day $25

Starting each morning with a demo, students will learn basic print techniques as an abstract foundation for collages. No previous printing experience necessary. The application of color and collage is an exciting process. This class takes the collage process beyond the basics. Instructor will demonstrate how the printing press can be an integral part of the collage process. Then skins, stamps, papers and transfers are added. As the class proceeds, students will work on value, color movement and composition. Final classes will be devoted to design, concentrating on strengthening paintings to fill them with energy and life. Students will work in their own pace in there own style. And extended day will be available for independent work with the instructor in the classroom.


Karen McCauley was trained at the San Antonio Art Institute, Southwest Craft Center, Hunter School of Art and has studied with many nationally known artist. She has worked as a courtroom illustrator. National and local awards have been numerous for this artist. She was selected as featured artist in the prestigious Western Art Show in San Antonio, an honor reserved for nationally and internationally known artists.
