HANDBUILDING WITH CLAY

This workshop is an excellent place to start for anyone beginning their adventure into clay. Whether your goal is to continue in handbuilding or develop wheel-throwing skills, this class will provide important groundwork and vital information about the medium. Students will learn pinch, coil and slab methods by making a planter, mug and vase.

Waterbased printmaking has never been so easy. With this method anyone can add images to work. Black and white Xerox copies are made into reusable fiber screens that can be printed on your choice of surface. This demonstration will introduce you to the basics of this process.

Tuition: Members $50; Non-members $65

Students will be given instruction in the skills required for participation in the HCAF Cooperative Ceramic Studio including glazes, firing and studio safety. Ceramic artists interested in the Cooperative Studio program must demonstrate the ability to perform tasks on the ceramic studio checklist before buying studio time. For more information on this program, contact the visual arts office.


Jackson holds an all-level art degree and has extensive teaching experience in the public school system and more recently, as a ceramics instructor.
