Basic Oil Painting

This class is designed specifically for the person who wants to learn the very basics of oil painting with a minimal cost in supplies. Using still life set-ups the class will discuss basic shapes, form, light and shadows and color mixing. Every step will be demonstrated.

All supplies will be furnished for an additional $35. All you need to bring is yourself in some old clothes and plan to have fun while learning.

At the end of this workshop, Janice will be teaching a three-day oil and pastel workshop for beginning and advanced students. This will be a good experience for those students who want more practice or to try their hand at pastels.

Oil & Pastel Painting

This class is for beginner and experienced artists. It is designed to let the student advance their painting skills in either oil paints or pastels. A variety of still life set-ups will be provided or students may bring their own landscape photos. The class will emphasize value, shapes, design and color mixing. This class will let the artist better understand the basics. This class is a good follow-up for the Basic Oil Painting workshop.


Janice has a degree in education and has taught for over thirty years. Her experience ranges from teaching first graders to adult continuing education classes. She has been teaching for Texas Instruments Art Club for 15 years and gives demonstrations and teaches workshops for art clubs in Texas and Arkansas. Janice is a member of the Oil Painters of America and a Signature member of Associated Creative Artist and Irving's Texas and Neighbor's Show. She was also named as one of the "Master Pastel Artists of the World" in the International Artists Magazine.
