Susan Carlin has been painting
commissioned portraits for over 30
years. She works in both oil and pastel.
"I love to paint people especially. I'm
sometimes compelled to paint a certain
landscape or still life. But painting
people, either in a formal portrait or
in a chance observation, most fully
engages that part of me that delights in
absolute accuracy dancing with color and
the creation of mood. It's that
challenge that moves me from the
painting I'm working on at the moment,
to the next and the next. Helping
emerging artists to build their skills
and their confidence is a special
pleasure." |
