Pastels

Instructor:  Susan Ogilvie
LANDSCAPES: COLOR, FORM & ENERGY
October 9 - 13, 2006

This is a comprehensive workshop for pastel painters who are interested in improving their painting and ”seeing” skills, developing stronger compositions, and moving beyond the literal sense of the landscape. By establishing a more personal approach to using shape, value, and color, the student will learn to create a dynamic, sensitive, and uniquely personal statement about the subject. Painting from nature, exploring different support surfaces, and creating compositions in the studio from field studies are at the heart of the class. The instructor’s goal with each student is to “encourage exploration and self-discovery, motivate artistic growth, and act as the safety net!”

Tution: HCAF Members $425; Non-members $475

Susan Ogilvie was educated at San Diego State University and San Diego Mesa College with a focus on drawing, painting, ceramics and figure studies.
