PASTEL LANDSCAPES

For the beginner to the professional, this workshop will have a strong emphasis on working with pastels to create a landscape. The class will examine various techniques of working from photographs to working plein air in the field. The usage of color, contrast, detail and temperature will be reinforced in creating an interesting landscape.

PASTEL PORTRAITS
May 12 - 14, 2006

This workshop is for all levels of painters with emphasis on working with pastels to develop a portrait from both photographs and a live model. Learn to relax and use your observational skills along with proportional guidelines to create that exciting portrait.

Steven Napper attended West Texas State University as an art major, receiving both a Bachelor and Masters degree. After working as a commercial artist in Los Angeles, California and as an art educator and administrator in Texas, Steven turned his full attention to fine art and developing workshops to share his skills. Dedication, love and talent have led Steven to be recognized over the past 35 years with both awards and membership in many of the most prestigious art organizations in America. Most recently Steven has been spending time painting in the field (Plein Air), recognition being received when he was one of 50 artists invited to paint in Rocky Mountain National Park for a week and then have a showing of created work. From the 50 artist, he was one of 10 artist who received recognition by becoming the first signature members of the Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters.
