Studio Opportunities

Run Away Artists
Consider an art retreat for yourself, a group of friends or your art organization. Spend some leisure time in the hill country and have access to a perfect studio environment to simply enjoy your art or have concentrated time to increase your inventory.

Many groups have made this type of get away an annual event. Splitting studio rental fees among several people makes the already reasonable price very affordable. This studio time is subject to scheduling by the art director.

Join a Studio Group
Studio One Painters - There are four groups who currently meet once a week on Monday through Thursday for three semesters, September through May in Studio One. Each group has their own organization in which members share the rental fee for the studio. There is no instruction and members work in the medium of their choice. Painters lend support to one another, socialize and can invite critiques from their fellow artists.

Printmakers
As with the Studio One Painters, local printmakers have formed a group to meet on a regular basis, on the first and third Mondays of each month, and share the rental fee. The printmakers work in a variety of printing techniques and have the use of HCAF’s two printing presses. Participants are required to have enough printing experience to work independently.

Form a Group
If you have an idea for an art group that would meet on a weekly or monthly basis and are willing to spend time organizing it, you may bring your proposal to the art director.

Purchase Studio Time
Studio One is open each Friday from 9 am to 5 pm, September through May.

Those wishing to use studio space to work independently on Fridays may purchase a Studio Card that is good for ten days of studio time. Participants may purchase a new card as often as needed but have up to a full year from the purchase date before the card expires.

Ceramics
Studio time may be purchased for the ceramics studio in the same way as Fridays for Studio One. However, participants are required to take a cooperative studio workshop and demonstrate the knowledge and ability to work independently and safely with the studio equipment. Studio time is sold in blocks of 10 (ten) four-hour work sessions.

Teach your own workshop
Studios are also available to rent to hold your own workshop. Instructors are responsible for their own advertising and student registrations. Dates are subject to scheduling with the art director. Studio rental fees are slightly higher when events are scheduled for profit to the renter.

Computer Lab
Studies & Rentals -
The computer graphics lab is equipped with six loaded Macs, a high resolution scanner, and an array of specialized software for artists. Classes are conducted by artists who use these digital tools professionally. The lab is also available for rentals.
