Whether it’s The Princess and the
Rutabaga or Big Blue Riding Hood, we
invite area students to turn
familiar fairy tales upside down and
inside out – and to have fun. This
interactive theatre camp gives
students a choice of three fairy
tales to read. They are then guided
to choose a variety of changes,
which they use to compose a
fractured fairy tale to script and
create a set and author their own
play. This theatre camp will be
useful for teaching point of view,
setting, plot, as well as fairy tale
conventions such as they lived
happily ever after, this style of
theatrical play encourages students
to use their imaginations within a
writing process for the script,
visual art for the set and self
esteem for the performance
component. Costuming and prop
building will also be hands-on for
each camper. Each session will end
with a performance of an original
play created by each group of
campers. A good time will be had by
all.
