Auditions At The Point

Beehive: The 60's Musical

Saturday, March 10th from 11 a.m-1:00 p.m & Sunday, March 11th at 2:00 p.m.

The Point Theatre will hold auditions for its first production of the summer season, "Beehive: The 60's Musical," on Saturday, March 10 from 11 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and Sunday, March 11 at 2:00 p.m.

"Beehive,"created by Larry Gallagher, is a fast-paced musical review of a decade of nostalgic music including songs by "girl groups" like The Shangi-Las, The Supremes, and The Shirelles. Songs by female soloists Petula Clark, Aretha Franklin, and Janis Joplin will also be featured. The production, directed by Rick Rowley, will be presented on the Point's outdoor stage May 24 - June 9, Thursdays-Saturdays at 8:30 p.m.

The cast has roles for six adult females with strong singing voices. Those auditioning should prepare a song from the sixties and bring sheet music if possible. An accompanist will be provided. Musicians who can play sixties music are also needed.

Point Theatre Announces Cast of "Smoke on the Mountain"

Casting has been announced for the Point Theatre's production of "Smoke on the Mountain" which will be performed March 9 - 24 on the Point's indoor stage.

This family-friendly production stars Bob Meadows as Burl, Dorothy Cass as Vera, Jon Rich as Dennis, Rachel Andrews as Denise, Tommie Bailey as June, Dan Groat as Stanley, and Ryan Bailey as Rev. Oglethorpe. The ensemble will also feature piano, bass, fiddle, dulcimer and harmonica players.

"Smoke on the Mountain," based on the novel by Constance Ray, is a musical comedy with gospel and bluegrass music. The production will be directed by veteran actress and director Ann Galland. "Smoke," set in 1938 North Carolina, follows the uplifting story of the Sanders family who comes to sing and tell stories for the members of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.

This hilarious, toe-tapping classic has been performed on over 250 stages across the nation. It is currently a top show in Branson, Missouri. For reservations and ticket information, call The Point Theater box office at (830) 367-5121.
